NAKHODA MOSQUE (Masjid)
Situated at the confluence of Chitpore Road and Mahatma Gandhi Road, Nakhoda Masjid is one of the oldest architectural structures in Kolkata. Built in the Indo Saracenic style, the mosque provides for a huge number of devotees. The total cost of construction was Rs 15 lakhs, and presently a board of trustees governs the mosque.
TIPU SULTAN MOSQUE (Masjid)
Tipu Sulatan Mosque is more commonly known after the name of the emperor, Tipu Sultan. Better known among Muslims as ‘ Shahi Masjid ‘, it is located at 185, Dharmatalla Street, Kolkata: 700 013. Built in 1832, the mosque is an excellent piece of architecture, and is administratively run by a trust called ‘Prince Ghulam Mohammed Waqf Estate”.
